The day before the First Communion....

So much prep to be done!! First, cleaning the house and then, re-cleaning the house because my family continues to think that I somehow resemble a MAID! Having the young man home this week was absolutely, not the best thing for me...but whatever, I dealt. The grocery shopping and now,(I am on break) since I hear my boys playing basketball....I am prepping all that I can for tomorrow. They must think that the MAID does all the food too...   :-P..

What is getting me through you ask, seeing my parents and all the fun I will have next weekend at Maryland Sheep and Wool!!! I am holding on to that with both fist and dreams of all the wonderful things I will see and all the wonderful people I will meet.

More after the big day!

Sun, storms and First Communion....

We had a rather lazy Easter and it was quite lovely! It's been positively sunny and spring here and as I am typing, I can see some storms brewing in the distance. It's vacation week here for me and Bryce, but we have a busy week ahead as we gear up for company and Bryce's First Communion on Sunday. Not much is getting done in the creative department, except, how to make the house look clean and fantastic without actually doing anything. Despite my best attempts to wish it all away, there is much to do and keep the young one entertained.

I did completely finish my socks, they are on the blog, and I have started another pair. Still working on the scarf, but all the counting and yarn overs are more than my brain can handle at the moment. It will remain, a WIP (work in progress).

The Needles in My Life....

I thought I would give you a little overview of my love of needles. I remember seeing my Memere always crocheting and sewing and I have an Aunt who is an avid sewer, so I guess you could say, it was in my blood. I began with a crochet class in the basement of our cities public library and then I took a sewing class in high school and that led to a love of quilting. After years of quilting, I decided that knitting deserved my attention, but it was not to be at that particular time. Instead, enter needlepoint! That lasted many years and is sill a current love, albeit, in stall mode at the moment. After a life changing move to parts unknown, I found a LYS (local yarn shop), and the needles and I have been getting to know each other again.

At first, I will admit, I was intimidated by all the beautiful things people around me were making, but me being who I am, I jumped right in, needles first. I did a simple pattern scarf for Mom...came out lovely. Then there was talk about SOCK CLASS....I was all over that like white on rice. How hard could it be I secretly thought to myself......! Well, the cast on kicked my but over and over again!! I thought I would never have a match to this hellish project. Then there were more whisperings about another class...MY FIRST SWEATER...! It looked difficult, but I thought, what the heck and I did it and learned so much....so much in fact that doing the other sock seemed down right easy and it pretty much was. Needed a small bit of guidance at the heel, but now I have a sweater and a pair of socks and more on the needles.

So this is my love affair with needles and the story of how it all began!

It's a new day.....!

Hello to All,

Well, spring has sprung for most of us..although today you would never know it. It was 49 degrees when I woke up and I had to take my down coat OUT of the closet again. I am preparing for Easter and for my son's First Communion on May 1....needless to say, this has cut into my knitting time in a big way! Did I mention that said son is on vacation for school.....child home minus school = nada knitting. Well, I suppose I can stitch once bedtime comes, but you know how that is...then I want to go to bed too!

On the needles at the moment are a Toe Up sock, a beautiful scarf and a sock that needs to be bound off....need to go to YouTube for the visual! After kids, the mind is just not the same! Are there mind exercises that I could do to improve things? Most likely, but since I have failed to exercise any of my other body parts, I kinda think I am just not an exercise kinda gal!

Follow along and I promise to amuse you with what I am knitting and the crazy things that go on around me.
